‍ Many people imagine Assisted Living communities to be like “nursing homes”: cold, clinical and lonely. For some, this may be true. However, at Senior Living Solutions, we have high standards for what we consider acceptable care for seniors. We will only promote communities we would be comfortable suggesting to our own loved ones. The residences we show our clients are required to meet the following values:

·       Homey—meaning our clients live in a home-like environment, as opposed to a hospital-like setting.

·       Warm, caring & capable staff—we observe the way staff treats residents and must determine they are calm and caring, view their workplace as the residents’ home, and capable of tending to any medical and personal needs that may arise.

·       Plenty of activities to foster friendships amongst residents and families—each community we endorse has at least one activity director who runs multiple, varied activities across many interests so everyone can be mentally, emotionally, and physically stimulated in a group setting. We require plentiful visiting hours and ensure families have the ability to interact with their loved ones on a regular basis, as desired.

·       Great food & nutrition—Our CSAs ensure communities offer desirable food and varied menus. We also confirm the kitchen staff will make reasonable accommodations to support particular nutritional or medical needs, such as pureed or diabetic-friendly diets. 

There are many other attributes we consider before deciding which communities we endorse. The biggest learning point for our clients usually comes after being accompanied on a tour of an Assisted Living or Memory Care community. The fears of you or your loved one being lonely and living in what is essentially a hospital room will go away once you see these environments yourself. While there are some subpar living situations and several communities we do not recommend, you can rest assured our CSAs will only suggest residences that meet our high standards.
